罗源一中高三公开课

911,大明和我应邀前往罗源一中,参加该校高中英语教研活动。活动内容是听一节高三公开课,开展一次《吴雪峰名师工作室》教研会议,探讨高中英语阅读教学设计思路。公开课采用人教版模块93单元Australia的阅读课文,主题是澳大利亚概貌,包括地理信息、文化信息、旅游景点等,课文由5篇短文组成。雪峰教案要点如下:

Teaching Objectives:

Focus: develop students’ logic & critical thinking while reading through various activities.

Teaching Methods: A&Q, group discussion, class share

Teaching aids: PPT, blackboard

Teaching Procedures

Step 1: Lead-in (2 min)

Guessing game: What is it?

KWL Chart: What do you know about Australia?

Step 2: Pre-reading (7 min)

Text Type Matching: Glance quickly at the 5 texts, match each text with the right text type and give reasons using textual evidence.

Step 3: Careful reading (7 min)

Read Text A and answer the questions.

(1) Does the word “area” appearing 4 times in the text all mean the same?

(2) What makes Australia a popular destination with tourists?

(3) As for states, what's the similarity and difference between Australia and the USA?

(4) Could you make a brief introduction about Australia according to the questions above?

Step 4: Jigsaw reading (18 min)

1. Group division (4-6 students a group) and requirements for active reading.

2. Questions for jigsaw reading.

Citizenship Ceremonies Planned Around Australia

(1) On Australia Day what’ll happen?

(2) How do you find Australia Day celebrations?

(3) ★★ Every year, a number of people become Australian citizens. Why do you think they choose to become citizens?

(4) ★★ For those who have come overseas from many different cultural and social backgrounds, what qualities does it take to succeed?

Go by TRAIN and see Australia

(1) What do the Indian-Pacific and the Ghan refer to? 

(2) Could you use one word to describe the feature of the Nullarbor? 

(3) Can we use “fees” instead of "fares" in the last sentence?

An Amazing Rock(教材无标题,另加此标题)

(1) What’s the name of the amazing rock?

(2) Why do most people choose not to climb Uluru? 

(3) *What imagery(形象的描述) is used in the text?

Tours outside Hobart

(1) What do you know about Cradle Mountain National Park?

(2) What kind of information makes a good tourist brochure?

(3) ★★Write by imitation a short text about “Tour to Lianhua Mount”.

3. Class Share & Formative Assessment

Step 5: Consolidation (10 min)

1. Summary: Fill the blanks with proper words.

2. Use 5 words or phrases to describe the most impressive aspects about Australia.

3. Acrostic (离合诗): Write a description starting with each letter of the key concept.

Step 6: Homework (Choose one of the assignments below) (1 min)

1. List out 3 facts you’re interested in and do more research.

2. Describe in detail the two rail journeys mentioned in Text C to a group of tourists.

3. Write one acrostic about Australia or Luoyuan.

本课有“三不”特点:一是新颖,不俗套;二是简洁,不拖沓;三是守时,不拖课;教学设计具有因“材”施教、阅读指导、读写结合、思维训练等特色,展示了雪峰在文本把握、设计理念、教学过程、课堂效果等方面具有较强的驾驭课程能力。

结课环节词汇复现活动引起现场观摩者很大的兴趣。具体做法:根据关键词AUSTRALIA,从课文中找出以该词首字母开头的词,边说边写,板书如下:

A continent country/Amazing land/Attractive

Unique ecology/Unusual wildlife/Uluru

Spectacular/Superb landscape/Sacred rock

Train journeys/Tours by train/Tourist attractions

Rusty reds of the centre/Rolling hills

Aboriginals/Autonomous states

Largest country in the southern hemisphere

Inhabited by a small population and rare species

AUSTRALIA/Attracting tourists worldwide 

不妨把该活动称之为“首字母归类法”,该活动很有创意,它引导学生从课文中寻找所学的词,尽量选出与主题相关度高、比较重要的词语。这种方法用于复现所学词汇、巩固所学知识,有积极的作用。利用关键词AUSTRALIA这个工具,从课文中拉出一条“语义主线”,然后再扩展这条线索,用相关词语进行复述(recast)、或在课后进行改写,这是一种重构做法。首字母归类法是间接的、隐性的教学活动,让学生无意识地加工和内化所学知识,有助于习得词汇知识,训练思维能力,是一种学思结合的教学形式。
