高三复习新思维:单元话题整合读写教学

20141113,三明市高三英语学科研训会在泰宁一中召开。会议组织者安排了三节观摩课,其中一节是“高三英语一轮复习单元话题整合读写——自然灾害”,授课者是永安一中陈密云老师。本节课在选题、构思、设计、操作等方面,改变了原有一轮复习走1-8模块单元的路子,重构了高中英语模块的内容和结构,展现了陈老师的改革意识和独特创意。这种富有张力的大胆尝试,体现了英语教学的整合观、读写观和时文观,对于当前高三英语复习来说,具有启发性、导向性和示范性意义。正值高三复习季节,特简介本课,与同行分享,供大家参考与思考。

以下是一节教学观摩借班授课案例,为了体现课例的真实性,尽量保持陈老师设计原貌,“说明”部分是我对她课堂操作的解释性文字,不含任何评论性观点。

 

教学内容:模块一第四单元和模块六第五单元

教学目标By the end of this lesson, students will be able to:

(1) revise the words, expressions and sentence paterns to lay the foundation for the reading and writing.

(2) better the skills of reading comprehension.

(3) develop the good habits of reciting or copying beautiful words and expressions while reading.

(4) practise writing a composition.

教学方法Task-based teachig method; Interactive and cooperative learning method; Student-centered teaching method (individual work and group work)

教学过程

Step One: Leading-in

1) Showing some pictures to make the sharp contrast about nature’s power on human beings, and then present the topic—smog.

2) Do a brainstorming activity.

Step Two: Revision

1) Go over the words about describing the feelings of facing a disaster.

2) Go over the words and expressions of describing the after-disaster scene.

3) Go over the classical sentence paterns by filling in the blanks.

【说明】复习环节,陈老师让全班学生先朗读一遍两单元的词表,接着通过课件与学生一起归纳描述人们面对灾难心情的词语和描写灾后情形的词语,然后做两单元经典句型的填词练习,如It seemed as if the world was at an end!好像世界末日到了),等等。

Step Three: Reading

1) Mention the “APEC Blue” to bring about some questions about Haze. Get the students to have a free talk on the topics as follows.

a. When a haze happens, what should you do?

b. What damage does a smog cause to the people?

c. What caused a smog?

2) Read the passage and complete the following tasks.

(1) Pick out the words to describe the feeling when facing a smog in Para 2.

(2) List our the green ways mentioned in the passaged to reduce the happening of the smog.

(3) Describe the main ideas of the passage,using one sentence.

【说明】“时文欣赏”环节,陈老师要求学生在课堂上阅读她自选的一篇时文,全文共6段,约360个词,首尾两段文字摘录如下:

Last month several places in Beijing were blanketed with thick yellow fog. Everything around disappeared from our sight. Some highways were closed. More traffic jams and accidents happened. People refused to go out, but once they were out, they had do wear masks.

What you do inside and around your home can contribute a lot to the air. We know a large amount of our energy supply comes from burning coal. You may try to reduce your use of electricity by turning off lights, using your air conditioner wisely during the summer months, or updating some of your electrical appliances to low-energy models. For example, you can use energy-saving lamps that require less energy and last 10 times longer than common bulbs.

读后设置三个任务,要求学生从时文中寻找三种答案。

Step Four: Writing

1) Offer the writing material to write an essay about smog and encourage them to use words and expression concerned.

2) Present them tips while writing.

3) Guide students to discuss and finish their group task.

4) Get some groups to present the writing to the class.

【说明】写的环节,陈老师设置以下一个题目:

假如你是李华,你的笔友John从电视上得知前段时间北京频繁出现雾霾(haze),非常担心,写Email询问有关情况,请回复。回复应包括以下要点:

1雾霾实况描述。

2对生活造成的危害。

3面对雾霾天气,人们采取什么防御措施,采取何种举措减少其发生。

4你自己为此做了什么活打算做什么。

要求写120词左右。提示词:anti-dust mask(防尘口罩)

同时呈现含五个步骤的“友情提示”:

第一步:审题(定体裁、定人称、定时态、定要点)

第二步:根据要点提示、关键词及时态展开叙述。

第三步:巧用过渡词,连句成文。

第四部:正确分段,力避一段到底。

第五部:完善成文。

此外,还有“温馨提示”:(1)书写清晰规范,卷面漂亮美观;(2)作文自评标准。

Step Five: Homework assignment

Write the compostition completely and fill in the forms of self-assessment.

【说明】在实际教学中,建议用2课时完成本课设计。
